Impasto Paint Night July 31, 2021

Recently we held a Impasto paint night in the studio. Due to Covid and limited space we limited it to a small number. We had 4 in attendance. Our subject was sunflowers. We had a great time and we all learned a lot from each other. I was the instructor and Gina assisted. I can honestly say we were pleasantly suprised with how talented the four students were! Impasto is a painting technique where paint is applied in thick layers usually using a palette knife or brush. The paint, once dry will have a textured 3D appearance and give much depth. We used acrylic paint mixed with heavy modeling gel medium. All supplies were furnished and by the end of the class, everyone had a beautiful canvas painting to take home! We plan on having more classes, once the Covid virus is better under control. Check back at our website for future classes on various painting techniques, pottery and jewelry making!

Art with Heart

Gina and I have been busy in the studio the last few months creating art for the Humane Society’s 12th annual Art with Heart auction that will take place April 17th, 2021. The humane society is one of our favorite charities because both our dogs, Katie and Barney are rescue dogs. Gina created her piece titled “Love like your dog does,” from inspiration from our big dog Katie. It is a mixed media poured acrylic painting of Katie on canvas with hand embellishment . Carrie’s whimsical folk art piece, “Buster’s Starry Starry Night” is an impasto technique acrylic painting on canvas inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s “Strarry Night.” Both of these unique pieces will be available only through this event. Pottery Studio

Much has happened since our last post! Who would have ever dreamed in our life time that we would be smack in the middle of a pandemic? Due to Covid 19 we have not been able to offer any paint nights or do an open house as we had planned for the spring. However, we have been able get much done for the future endeavors of our business! Back in April we began working on our pottery studio. That’s right, we will soon be adding hand built pottery as well as wheel thrown pottery to our selection of art work available for purchase! We have converted a large area of our double garage into a hand-building pottery studio. A special thanks goes out to Gina’s son Josh Parris for building us a nice hand-building table and also a wedging table. Not long after the completion of our tables, our clay extractor arrived! The clay extractor will be used for making coil pots and mug handles for cups! We are preparing to offer some hand-building classes and this nice piece of equipment will come in handy! We have a electric kiln we will use for general firing in a separate pottery shed. The wiring has been lain and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of the electrician to hook up the shed and the studio. Stay tuned as we bring you updates on the progress of the studio and also my next post will be discussing the process of making our own clay from the wild.

Rainbow Works Fine Arts First Paint and Sip

We held our first paint and sip December 7 at our studio with seven in attendance. This first event we decided to create poured acrylic coaster sets! We gave a step by step instructional demonstration on two different art techniques while students enjoyed fresh baked cookies, wine and cheese. After the demonstration each student created their own set of beautiful and unique coasters to take home. Everyone had a blasted and created some really awesome art that night!

If you missed this one and would love to come to our next paint and sip, message us your contact info because we will be having more coming up in the new year!!

Open House

November 3, 2019, we were pleased to host our second annual open house! We would like to give a big thank you to all the friends and family that turned out in support. This year we were excited to show off our new work such as Encaustic art, resin pour tables, hand painted coasters and more matted photography selections.
