Rainbow Works Annual Open House

Gina and I are working hard and staying busy getting ready for our open house Nov 5th from 2-4. Rainbow works is celebrating 5 years of business and are very excited to be able to start our annual open house tradition again! We will have Christmas Wassil (spiced cider) and cookies to snack on while you check out our vast and diverse range of art. We will be featuring not only Ginas art and my art (Carrie or Becky as some close friends know me) but we will also be featuring artist Josh Parris and artist Elly Portugal Owner of Brazilian Designs.

Josh Parris was born and raised in Georgia. He is known for his amazing hand printed litho prints and will have several custom/orginal prints and a few reproduction prints from the 1900’s to select from. Josh is a recent graduate from Clemson University where he obtained his Masters degree in Hydrogeology and now resides. His hand carved linoleum block prints are know through out Georgia and South Caroline by his attention to detail and crisp clean lines.

Elly Portugal, our Brazilian featured artist, creates work completely focused on the energy of nature. Using organic elements of nature she creates from plants and flowers from the forest are of North Georgia to create one of kind arrangements and center pieces. She also creates exquisite custom hats incorporating natural elements using gemstones, feathers, leather and beads. Her hats and arrangements can be found internationally and locally.

Gina and I both will have a large selection of art prints, matted photography, pottery and hand made jewelry, coaster sets, and paintings. We are happy to now offer Giclee Fine Art prints. Giclee prints (pronounced Zee-clay) are high quality fine art prints produced through a special technique utilizing only the best archival pigment inks that will last 100-200 years. Unlike a regular print, Giclee utilizes a pigment base process rather than a dye base that will fade. Giclee prints are considered highly collectable and he gold standard in art. We will also have our first pieces of pottery for sale. Each piece of pottery has many hours of love and time spent through the entire start to finish process created by hand in our small pottery studio here in Gainesville Ga. We now have two pottery wheels and fire our own pottery in our pottery shed with an electric kiln . We will soon be completed building on our primitive handbuilt adobe fire pit to fire our “Wild Clay” which will be pottery created from the clay we have dug ourselves from Georgia and Alabama. and hand processed. The fire pit has been a work in progress that started during the pandemic. If you are interested in learning to use a pottery wheel, or perhaps handbuilding is more your groove, then private message us for hours available for open studio classes. Paint nights are offered in our art studio and limited to small groups of 4-6 people upon request. Gather your group up and private message us for more information on scheduling.

In memory of local artist Virgina Ann Wright, we will be featuring a small selection of her Giclee art prints. Ann was an avid artist and also Gina’s mom. She passed away in July of this year. She continued her painting and writing even in her 80’s. Ann was known most for her captivating stories, magnificent art work and her creative writing. Her legacy will live on through the generations of art talent passed on to her children and grandchildren and all those she touched along the way.

Don’t forget to keep a frequent check on our website as it is being updated daily. Exciting classes and paint nights are being planned again, so keep checking from time to time to see what all we have to offer! ~
