"Mizuki" (Beautiful Moon) encaustic painting
“Mizuki” which is Japanese for “beautiful moon,” is an encaustic painting by Artist Carrie Hullar. This Asian inspired painting was created with Jacquard metallic powdered pigments of copper, gold and mink. The moon has hand embellished gold leaf around the edges. This painting is on solid pine with a technique known as Shou Sui Ban. This technique involves burning the sides of the wood with a blow torch to give depth and texture. The simplicity of this creation will be an enhancement to any neural or contemporary decor.
